Sacha & Wendy

Welcome to Lessons Learned x 2--we are thrilled to have you join us! Whether you are considering beginning homeschooling, adjusting to a new season of homeschooling, or an experienced homeschooler who needs a different perspective--we are here to support your journey. Together Sacha and Wendy have been in the classroom or homeschooling for over 40 years and have 12 children from kindergarten to college-aged. We are passionate about all things homeschooling and are excited to share our experiences, knowledge, and advice with you. Ultimately we want to share the lessons we have learned and assist you in having a stress-free homeschooling experience!

Sacha

My name is Sacha Hannig. My husband, Tim, and I have eight children-ranging 21-5 years old.  Two have graduated and are attending college. Over our 16 years of homeschooling, we have been able to watch the close bonds between our children develop as well as incorporate our faith into our lessons.

I graduated from Wheaton College, where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education with a Bible minor. I’ve always worked with kids: as a camp counselor, tutor, and children’s pastor, and even in the elementary school setting assisting students in the library and computer lab. In addition, I’ve taught many classes at homeschool co-ops over the years.

Over the years I have worked with Old Schoolhouse Magazine reviewing homeschool curriculums. (I have seen a lot! )For a number of years, I also blogged at Home In the Trenches supporting homeschoolers and those interested in homeschooling across the country.  Currently, I am a co-leader of a local homeschooling co-op as well as my husband and I lead a small group with our church’s marriage ministry, re|engage.

I have found that homeschooling isn’t a one size fits all mentality. I’m looking forward to helping you make the best decisions for your family!

Wendy

My name is Wendy Rossi, my husband Nick and I have four amazing kids—all teenagers! Our son Josh has graduated and is attending college while our three girls, Leah, Sarah, and Hannah, are in high school. We are entering into our 15th year of homeschooling. We love the fact that we can learn together as a family. Not only can we cover general academics but can focus on building character and faith. We are grateful we can cater to each child’s learning style as they explore and learn.

Currently, I am a co-leader of a local homeschool 4-H club, co-director of a homeschooling coop, and children’s education coordinator at my church. My experience includes teaching elementary school for 10 years, which included learners with special needs. My educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois and a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in Reading from Illinois State University...but you do NOT have to have a degree in education to teach your children. Your love and willingness to help them learn are the most important characteristics you can possess! Let me help provide you with encouragement and practical advice.

Let’s Work Together!
